Singing with Woody Guthrie in the Almanac Singers, and later with the Weavers, Pete had helped to keep music of, by and for the people alive for years, paving the way for the folk revival of the 1960s. By the summer of 1963, the revival was a boom. Pete m.c.'d many of the concerts and workshops at Newport, happy to be introducing so many new and old performers to the enthusiastic crowds.
